Dr. Shane Stevenson
M. Shane Stevenson, D.M.D., M.D. is a native of North Alabama and attended the University of North Alabama where he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Professional Biology in 1996. Dr. Stevenson received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree with honors from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 2000, and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine 2004. Following an internship in general surgery, Dr Stevenson completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2006 at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Dr. Stevenson opened his private practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Decatur in 2006. He maintains an active appointment at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
Dr. Stevenson is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Medical Association, and Southeastern Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons as well as many local organizations.
Full arch dental implants provide patients with brand new teeth by utilizing a permanent, titanium-reinforced bridge that can be secured with four to six dental implants. This allows us the flexibility to strategically place the implants in the areas in which the bone is most dense, reducing our need for bone grafting and other supporting treatments.
